3 Signs Your Thyroid Might Be Affecting Your Period:
- Heavy flow. Having low thyroid production influences the body’s ability to make progesterone, therefore, creating an imbalance between estrogen and progesterone.
- Irregular Cycles. Too little thyroid hormone can cause and over-production of prolactin which can inhibit ovulation. No ovulation = no progesterone = very irregular cycles or no cycle at all.
- PCOS or fibroids. If you have been diagnosed with PCOS or fibroids, chances are your thyroid is involved. These diagnoses also cause reduced fertility.
